When Amani Toomer—the Giants franchise leader in all major receiving categories—compared Roger Goodell to a Gestapo, it made headlines for a while and then went away with a sincere apology from Toomer. Tiki Barber’s comments may have topped what Toomer said in terms of an insensitive comment regarding the Nazi regime, and it will take more than an apology to get past this one. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Barber talked about losing the final game of his career to the Eagles in 2006. Apparently he went in to hiding, and what he compared it to was nothing short of ridiculous. “I went into hiding in Lep’s attic, and it was like a reverse Anne Frank thing.” Lep is referring to Mark Lepselter, Barber’s agent, who happens to be Jewish. I’m guessing when he says “reverse Anne Frank thing” he means a Jewish person hiding someone in their attic, because that is relevant and all.
