The New York Jets were thrilled when Chad Pennington took over their QB roles about 4 years ago for an aging Vinny Testaverde. However, Pennington's run as the starter has been up and down, with injuries cutting much of his potential short. Now steps in '06 draft pick Kellen Clemens, and the future looks somewhat bright for the Jets. The former Oregon QB completed 16-of-22 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns in his pre-season debut. Now I know its only pre-season, but hey, how much longer can the Jets have Pennington run the show?

  • I remember Jaws saying that he was definitely the steal of his class because dropped to the second round because of an injury or something like, i could be wrong, but none the less i really liked how he threw the football. especially with pennington being injury prone it's a good spot to be. but as long as pennington's healthy he's the better pick, no doubt.
  • You're really that impressed with Pennington? I always thought he was a quick fix for the Jets when Testaverde was getting to the point of retirement, but they never really drafted anybody for the long haul.
  • pennington has been banged up but last year was a good year for the jets and pennington, i think they can look to next year for clemens to step in. but if chad pulls another year like last, no chance for clemens.
  • Maybe I'm just too down on Pennington and too high on Clemens, but I think in the future, it should be Clemens or some other QB leading the way.
