When Adalius Thomas spoke in the locker room, it was always a circus. Back in 2009, the high-priced former free agent was answering questions about his lack of productivity and wondering why Patriots coach Bill Belichick wouldn’t put him on the field enough.
“Ask Bill,” Thomas would say.
A year later, he’s still asking questions. The ex-Pro Bowl outside linebacker went the entire season without finding a job, a feat that’s remarkable considering how feverishly the Patriots once sought him. Thomas had two workouts — the Jets and the Dolphins — and neither team signed him.
As for why, that’s not clear. I caught up with his agent Bus Cook at the Senior Bowl, and he seemed just as confused about the versatile player who had 34 tackles and three sacks in 2009.
Why didn’t Thomas find a job?
