SEATTLE — After four long years the call Cortez Kennedy has been waiting for has come. The call to the pro football Hall of Fame. Kennedy, who played for the Seattle Seahawks from 1990-2000, will go into the hall along with CB Jack Butler (Steelers), RB Curtis Martin (Jets/Patriots), C Dermontti Dawson (Steelers), DE Chris Doleman (Vikings/Falcons/49ers) and OT Willie Roaf (Chiefs).
Kennedy, an elite defensive tackle, burst onto the scene in 1992 recording 14 sacks in route to being named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. Considered one of if not the best defensive tackle in NFL history, Kennedy retired in August of 2002. Several teams were interested in signing him, but he only wanted to play for Seattle.
In his eleven year career Kennedy was an eight time Pro Bowler, three time first-team AP All-Pro selection and selected to the 1990′s NFL All Decade team. In 2007 Sports Illustrated named Kennedy the best athlete every to wear the number 96. Kennedy finished ...
