Former Steelers kicker Jeff Reedis trying to work his way back into the NFL at the age of 35. “I looked into the CFL and the Arena League,” Reed said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It’s just a lot of work for little pay, and it sounds kind of shallow, but when you’ve played for the most elite level of football and you think you can still do it, why wouldn’t you?” So far the Titans have shown some interest in Reed. Reed said that he was contacted by Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt about coming in for a workout. He added that Whisenhunt was up front about the fact the Titans would like to have a younger kicker, but they would still be interested in seeing what Reed has to offer. Reed said he hoped he would be the first kicker contacted if someone go hurt, “but I have no idea what people think. I mean, my stats and where I’ve kicked and how I’ve kicked for the most part speak for themselves. So, it’s just a matter of coming across the right path.” Reed was a good solid kicker with the Steelers until he started to miss one too many field goal attempts. var ACE_AR = {Site: '898551', Size: '468060', CallType: 'IFRAME'}; Loading... Pittsburgh Steelers: Why to watch Jordan Zumwalt

The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for week two of OTAs and although there will plenty of players to keep an eye on, one in particular is already generating some publicity. Sixth-round pick, Jordan Zumwalt seems to be the player to watch this offseason. The linebacker out of UCLA hasn’t even attended OTAs yet (due to UCLA’s graduation) but has already been pegged as an upcoming...

Replacing A Championship Roster – Trai Essex To David DeCastro

The Pittsburgh Steelers have experienced an uncommon amount of roster turnover over the last few seasons, which just so happened to coincide with consecutive years without a postseason berth. As a result, we’re finding an unusual amount of new faces in the starting lineup compared just to last season, when the season before already introduced […] Replacing A Championship Roster...

LeGarrette Blount doesn’t mind ‘complementing’ Le’Veon Bell

When LeGarrette Blount signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he knew running back Le’Veon Bell would be the starter. “I feel like every running back in this league wants to be a starter,” Blount said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “Obviously I want to start, and I knew that when I went to New England. I wasn’t the starting guy. When I come here, I know I’m not the starting...

2014 NFL Draft Team Grades: Pittsburgh Steelers

15th Overall Pick: Ryan Shazier, LB, Ohio StateI wasn't quite sure where the Steelers were going with this selection, but I didn't expect Shazier to be the pick. I think this is a bit early for Shazier, who I pictured going in the 20s. He doesn't fill a huge need, but this will certainly help out the front seven. The Steelers have a great history of developing linebackers...

Steelers Sign WR C.J. Goodwin, Waive WR Jasper Collins

On Tuesday, we passed along a report that the Pittsburgh Steelers were going to sign California University wide receiver C.J. Goodwin to their roster and now that transaction has been made official. As part of that report, I speculated that if Goodwin was ultimately signed that it could possibly come at the expense of undrafted […] Steelers Sign WR C.J. Goodwin, Waive WR Jasper...

When Pittsburgh Steelers third-string quarterback Landry Jones hits the field later this summer during the preseason games, we can probably expect to see him wearing a glove on his throwing hand. According to Chris Bradford of the Beaver County Times, Landry, who was drafted in the fourth-round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma […] Report: Steelers QB Landry Jones To Wear...

Stephon Tuitt Adjusting To Demands Of The Pro Game

The Pittsburgh Steelers allowed most of their defensive ends to walk this offseason, trying to rebuild the position from within, via free agency, and through the draft. The most promising new addition to the pool is second-round selection Stephon Tuitt. But unlike Ryan Shazier, that doesn’t mean he looks like he’s ready to just step […] Stephon Tuitt Adjusting To Demands Of...

James Saxon Wants Running Backs, Offensive Line In Harmony

The Pittsburgh Steelers parted with two assistant coaches on the offensive side of the ball during this offseason; one was by choice, the other the choice of the coach. A year after losing offensive line coach Sean Kugler to the college ranks, the Steelers evidently settled on a one-year layover with Jack Bicknell Jr., with […] James Saxon Wants Running Backs, Offensive Line In...

Expect Real Camp Battles in 2014

Training camp for many of us is a wonderful thing, because it’s our first chance to see the newest version of the Steelers roster. I think my favorite part of camp though is two or sometimes three guys battling for a starting spot. The Steelers historically have been almost set at every position going into camp. While that’s unfortunately not the case this year; it will make...

Pittsburgh Steelers Helmet Visor Has Twitter Handle On It

It’s against the rules in the NFL to have logos or anything on the players visors during the season, but no one said anything about mini camp or training camp. The Pittsburgh Steelers took full advantage of that and put the Steelers twitter handle on player’s visors. No Pittsburgh Steelers interior offensive linemen named top-10 in NFL

Typically speaking, sports fans tend to worry about two things – the past and the future. They’ll debate who was the greatest player of all-time, while also spending hours discussing whether or not a rookie is going to be develop into an All-Pro. Both are fun exercises, things that keep fans engaged and the beer flowing at the local tavern. But they miss out on what is most important...
