Fox Reporter Forgets Bill Walsh Is Dead

Fox NFL reporter Danyelle Sargent made a little football faux pas during a pre-game interview with Mike Singletary. Danyelle asked the new 49ers coach about calling Bill Walsh right after he got the job. One problem - Bill Walsh passed away last year.

  • I know they are going toward the "pretty girl" sideline reporter these days - but I know lots of beautiful ladies with good football knowledge.
    I mean Bill Walsh is not some obscure coach. He is a legend in the bay area. I could understand if she just made a slip and immediately corrected herself - but it sounded like she really did not know who Bill Walsh was?

  • The line about her about "good head" is completely out of line, crude, and doesn't add anything to a football discussion. I'm a man and am offended. I thought the rules were to keep it clean. Kids read these boards, you know.

  • IMO, Paragozar's comment about Spotella's line regarding "good head" is an overreaction. Spontella made his point succinctly, and any kid able to understand the wording is unlikely to be shocked.
    I didn't see the interview. If she really didn't know who Bill Walsh was, or was unaware of his passing, she may be in the wrong line of work. However, it is possible that she's brand new to football - perhaps a sudden opportunity or need arose - and will quickly become more educated on the topic. Or that she just had a very uncharacteristic "brain fart".
    She definitely needs to avoid another faux pas in the near future.

  • No one should let their kids read yardbarker! There are half naked women and sexual innuendos everywhere! If 10 year olds are reading this I question the parenting. That is just bad parenting. Pay attention to what your kids are doing online. Sounds like someone doesn't know how to tell their kids "NO".
