Found January 15, 2012 on The Viking Age:
Fred Pagac is no longer dangling like a lonely Christmas ornament. On Friday the Vikings finally pulled the trigger on the defensive coordinator, ending weeks of non-suspense. Pagac was offered the chance to stay on as linebackers coach but it’s not yet known if he’ll accept. Current LB coach Mike Singletary is believed to be a candidate to take over for Pagac as DC. Pagac’s legacy as defensive coordinator is one of failure and slow disintegration. This wasn’t entirely Pagac’s fault. A lot of bad crap happened to the defense in 2011, including a ton of injuries, a bunch of aging players going over the cliff, Chris Cook getting himself unofficially suspended with pay after a domestic assault and just overall undisciplined play. Pagac himself came under fire after it was revealed that on more than one occasion his players ignored his instructions, instead calling their own plays in the huddle. Leslie Frazier was on at least two occasions forced to take ov...

McNabb balls up at a Minnesota rec league

I've still got it T My tipster sends me this “This kid plays basketball at Lifetime every day and every day he sees McNabb there. He went up to him, referenced McNabb’s Syracuse hoops days, and asked him to play on his his team. They’ve had 1 game so far and McNabb put up 14-10. As a Vikings fan, I wish he would’ve decided to pursue his basketball career 6...

Robison expects to build off his breakout year

Asked recently to summarize the Minnesota Vikings season, defensive end Brian Robison offered a simple analogy. "I guess you could say a roller coaster that stayed close to the ground most of the time, a kiddy coaster," Robison said. Robison was describing Minnesota's 3-13 season, but the comparison can also apply to his first season as a starter. Only instead of...

Report: Vikings changing defensive coordinators

The Minnesota Vikings have relieved Fred Pagac of his duties as defensive coordinator but have offered him a demotion to his former role of linebackers coach, the Pioneer Press reported Sunday, citing sources. Pagac, who became defensive coordinator last January after serving as linebackers coach from 2006 to 2010, was yet to inform the team on whether he would accept the new offer...

Minnesota Vikings Possible 2012 NFL Free Agent Pickups: CB Brent Grimes

It’s obvious the Minnesota secondary is in need of some serious upgrading. Brent Grimes is a player who can immediately do just that. Grimes just finished his 5th season as an Atlanta Falcon, and will be testing the free agent waters in 2012. For his career Grimes has totaled 216 tackles, 56 pass deflections, and 13 interceptions. His best season came last year with 76 tackles...

Vikings, Cowboys, Jags Facing Change

The Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars have locked horns over an unlikely issue: both teams would like to have Mel Tucker as their defensive coordinator and Tucker’s current contractual situation is a little bit unclear. Tucker was the Jags defensive coordinator, but his contract expired and he is no longer legally tied to Jacksonville. The Vikings are apparently interested...

Jim Souhan: Upgrades needed among Vikings assistant coaches

An NFL head coach is only as good as his coaching staff. Leslie Frazier would do well to follow Dennis Green's lead and hire some top-notch lieutenants to work for him.

Report: Vikings strip DC title from Pagac, offer different role

Now that the Minnesota Vikings have interviewed several candidates for Fred Pagac's job, the team has relieved him of his duties as defensive coordinator.

With two coaches out, Vikings defense in flux

The Vikings now have a pair of significant coaching vacancies, meaning star defensive end Jared Allen will spend 2012 working with a new defensive coordinator and a new defensive line coach whose identities he does not yet know.

Decision to Sever the Body and Save the Heads Leaves Vikings in Dire Straits

The Minnesota Vikings are coming off of their worst season in team history, finishing 2011 with a 3-13 record. In the weeks since the season ended, the organization has determined that the solution to the team's 2011 woes is three-fold: promote one of the architects of the 2011 team to lead architect, retain the services of the coach responsible for the on-field performance...
