Deputies with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a current NFL player and former Port Barre High School football standout following an alleged dispute Thursday night. Marvin White, 27, was arrested at 6:16 p.m. Thursday at his home at 304 Dr. Charlie Drive in Opelousas by St. Landry Parish deputies and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on one count of simple assault and one count of disturbing the peace by loud and abusive language, according to the St. Landry Parish Jail's daily arrest report. White bonded out of jail at 10:14 p.m. Thursday after posting $1,250 bond. "Marvin White went to a local child care center to pay a bill for his child and he began to be verbally abusive to the management when the manager assumed he was boyfriend of the child's mother," St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said. "They asked him to leave. He then made threats in front of the children and other adults there toward the management and made comments to his son's grandmother, who was there to pick up the child." Because of the alleged disturbance, deputies were called to the scene to investigate and ultimately arrested White, Guidroz said. According to a fax from the St. Landry Parish Jail including White's mugshot, White was to appear in court Friday.
