Tragic news coming out of Philadelphia Eagles training camp this morning. Garrett Reid, son of Eagles head coach Andy Reid, was found dead in his room at Leigh University on Sunday morning.
The younger Reid had been working with strength and conditioning and was present with the team at training camp. 911 was called at 7:20 am when he was found unresponsive in his room at Lehigh.
Eagles GM Howie Roseman delivered the news to the media. Per the Inquirer,
I have some heartbreaking news to share with you all,” an emotional Roseman said. “It is with great sadness that I tell you Garrett Reid, the oldest son of Coach Reid, was found dead this morning in his room here at training camp. This is a tough morning for all us.”
Edward Shupp, Chief of Police at Lehigh University, reported more detail about the scene.
“Upon arrival attempts were made to revive the individual,” Shupp said. “They were unsuccessful. … There were no suspicious activities.”
Garrett was 28 years old.
