IRVING, Texas Former Dallas Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday. Asked Friday about Sensabaugh calling it quits, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he was surprised by the 29-year-old's decision. "It did surprise me, Garrett said. I think he has football left in him. I havent talked to him since then. Hes a young football player with a lot of football left in him. But one of the things thats Line 1 in football is a desire to do it. Its a hard physical game. If you dont really want to do it, youre in the wrong profession. Hes had a very good career." The 6-1, 212-pounder started 60 games for the Cowboys over the last four seasons. He started 15 games last season, recording 58 tackles, a forced fumble and three passes defensed. Sensabaugh, who was selected by Jacksonville in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft, was cut by the Cowboys on March 4. Follow Jon Machota on Twitter: @jonmachota
