The Jets snagged West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith with the seventh pick of the second round (39th overall).Fantasy Spin:ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter suggested that this move could represent the end of the Mark Sanchez Era in New York. With Smith, Sanchez, David Garrard and Tim Tebow all on the Jets' roster, head coach Rex Ryan will have a big decision to make later this offseason. We're guessing the rookie Smith will be under center for New York's Week 1 matchup with Tampa Bay.

Geno Smith is heading to New York, and Mark Sanchez may be on his way out. The Jets added another high-profile quarterback Friday, drafting the West Virginia standout Smith in the second round. Report: Jets Will Keep Mark Sanchez Into The Preseason

Just as I thought I could discontinue referring to the New York Jets as a mess, I believe John Idzik has a little bit of Mike Tannenbaum in him, and enjoys the circus atmosphere. Bob Glauber of Newsday is reporting that according to a source close to the situation, the Jets will hold on to Mark Sanchez until the preseason at least. League source: #Jets expected to retain QB Mark...

The rise and fall of ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s chair during the 2013 NFL Draft

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter maintains his big boy face and continues to rattle off a report even though his chair takes on a mind of its own.

Why your team sucks: The New York Jets

Mark Sanchez will remain the quarterback of the New York Jets for the immediate future, and a coming back from injury Santonio Holmes remains his only ‘weapon’ on offense. Granted there are still 6 rounds remaining in the 2013 NFL Draft, but with the lack of talent depth in it, the Jets wasted an opportunity to try to bring in a playmaker offensively to help out the offense....

Jets reportedly making calls to move up for a quarterback

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets are trying to move up in the second round to take a quarterback.  They could be targeting Geno Smith. Jets have made calls today to multiple teams to try to move up from 39th spot in second round to draft QB. Debated Geno Smith at No. 13. —...

Report: Jets Considering Releasing Mark Sanchez After Drafting Geno Smith

The economics of such a move would mean the Jets would be carrying a lot of dead money for a couple of years. With that being said, if they want to have a fresh start, they have to get rid of some of their quarterbacks. If they believe Geno is indeed the man, having Sanchez on the roster is only going to make the Jets a bigger circus than they already are. It will be interesting...

Great shot of Jets fans reaction to QB Geno Smith (via @espnimages) --> twitter.com/ESPNNFL/status… — NFL on ESPN (@ESPNNFL) April 26, 2013 My Twitter timeline exploded in laughter as soon as the New York Jets selected West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith. Freaky Friday for Sanchez stars

Friday was either a very good day or a very, very bad day to be named Sanchez in the sports world, as Sanchez stars from New York to Detroit to St. Louis had some of the best and worst evenings in the history of professional athletics. There was more to boo than there was to cheer for the Sanchez contingent, but for the sake of keeping things light off the bat, we'll start with...

Tyrann Mathieu Agreed to Take Weekly Drug Tests for Arizona Cardinals

I am sure the NFLPA is going to fight back against this. Even though I totally understand why the Cardinals would want to do it. I think Mathieu needs that type of reminder to make sure he doesn’t fall off the wagon, but I do believe there are some legal issues that would have to be worked out. The fact that he is willing to agree to it, gives me hope that he realizes what a great...

Report: “Increasing Chatter” That The 49ers Are Looking To Trade Up Into The Top 15

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that there’s “increasing chatter” that the 49ers are trying to trade up in the Top 15 for some defensive help. Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports adds that Missouri DT Sheldon Richardson is likely their target. San Francisco’s roster is already one of the deepest in the league, so it would make plenty of sense for them to look to turn some of their...
