New York Jet rookies at the NFL rookie synopsis. Geno Smith attended the NFL rookie synopsis this week with the rest of the New York Jet rookies. Smith had a very optimistic tone when asked about being named the starting quarterback this year. In an interview on NFL Network Geno Smith said “”I’m in a great, great place, I’m in a great organization and I look forward to the future.” Smith also went on to mention that he believes he took a giant step in OTA’s and minicamp. Smith added that with all the reps he has gotten so far, the transition into the new offense is coming along smoothly. When asked if he would attend Mark Sanchez’s “Jets West” practice, Smith said he had not decided yet. While Geno Smith is being prepped by the NFL on how to stay out of trouble and be successful in the league, Mark Sanchez made the news for the videos he posted on Twitter this week. Sanchez was seen dancing shirtless and tasting wine in Southern California. This actually can be seen as a good thing. The past two years Sanchez has seemed uptight and miserable with the criticism he has received from the media. Last year Eva Longoria broke up with Sanchez saying its hard to be with someone who is never happy. The Jets can only hope this change of behavior will help Sanchez on the field. Other Notes: - The New York Jets announced that they will open training camp July 25th in Cortland, NY. -The Jets first scrimmage will be on August 3rd, at 6 p.m. -On August 21st and 22nd the Jets will hold camp at their practice facility for all season ticket holders to attend.
