I had wondered how Bill Belichick would attempt to get his team to take the Colts seriously. The Patriots coach is faced with the task of getting his team geeked to take on their annual rival, even though Peyton Manning is nowhere to be found and the Colts are winless.
How? We got a glimpse yesterday.
“Time to turn the page, get back in the division and get ready for Indianapolis,” Belichick said at his news conference, “and start preparing for a team that we’ve faced many times that, schematically, looks pretty much the same as they usually do. Obviously a couple of changes in personnel, but a team we always have trouble with. (We’re) ready to move on.”
In a way, it’s hilarious. The change in personnel, of course, is Manning being gone, with Curtis Painter replacing him. And everyone else has fallen apart — even DE Dwight Freeney and a usually menacing defensive line.
