The Giants and now Oakland Raiders TE Kevin Boss had agreed to a verbal deal before Boss “hit the lottery,” this according to Giants owner John Mara. Mara, who was on ESPN Radio, said the Giants and Boss had agreed to a deal, but Boss struck it large and decided to take the money.

Mara also said that the Giants offered WR Steve Smith a long-term deal last season that would have made him one of highest-paid WRs in league. Mara then went on to say how the Giants had offer on table for few weeks to Smith and waited for a response, and never received a response. Also according to Mara, the Giants would have liked to counter-offer the Eagles offer to Smith, but probably wouldn’t have matched it.
