TEAMS: New York Giants, New Orleans Saints
New York Giants running back David Wilson put on a show last week with a franchise-record 327 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in a win over the New Orleans Saints, however, there was one thing Giants defensive end Justin Tuck didn't like -- the celebratory backflip.
"I told him several times never to do that again," Tuck said, according to ESPN New York. "We're going to have another talk about not doing it. Everyone knows how athletic he is, but the last thing we need is him having some tweak injury by showing off to the crowd
"Let's just keep him upright and running and leave the backflips for YouTube. They're already on YouTube. If people want to see them, they can go to YouTube and see them."
Wilson said he's been doing flips since he was a toddler, plus, upper management only warned him not to hurt himself.
"Nobody asked me to stop," Wilson said. "(General manager Jerry) Reese just told me if I get hurt, then he'll be in my grille.
"It's a possibility they can go wrong. But for me, I've been doing 'em since I was 3 years old. It's like easy -- it's almost like running, for me to jump and turn backwards. I've been doing it for a while, I think people can relax a little."
Eli Manning said he doesn't care about the backflips, coach Tom Coughlin avoided the topic with a "next question."
It's hard to get on a guy for a legal celebration that doesn't hurt the team, but if he injures himself, he does hurt the team.
