EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - NOVEMBER 08: Head coach Tom Coughlin of the New York Giants watches from the sideline during NFL action against the San Diego Chargers at Giants Stadium on November 8, 2009 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Nick Laham/Getty Images)
Well, the New York Giants need to have it this way because easy isn’t in their vocabulary. The Giants had the chance to close the door on the NFC East and instead swung it wide open. Tom Coughlin doesn’t know why his teams swoon late, or why they tend to raise their level when pushed to the limit. However, they start their journey at home vs. the New Orleans Saints and there isn’t any room for mistake anymore. Washington and Dallas are nipping at the heels of the front running Giants. The Saints are a dangerous team still hoping to make a run at the playoffs and need this one even worse than the Giants. New York’s power pass rushing defense will have to kick it in to control the speedy Saints receiving corps. So there preparation this week is to slow down the Saints and make Drew Brees throw into coverage. Brees has been a turnover machine in 2012 and the Giants want to get in on the action. “It will be nice to get them in our place,” Tom Coughlin said according to Sam Borden of the New York Times. “They’re fast. There’s no doubt about it,” linebacker Mark Herzlich said. “It’s something you can’t ignore. You have to be aware of how good they are at making big plays.” “We hope our fans make it harder, obviously, maybe make them have to use more hand signals and things like that,” he said. “I think that could certainly slow them down a bit.” var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
