New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle sat out practice Thursday after still being bothered by a bruised knee he suffered against the Panthers in last Thursday’s game when he collided with a television camera. Rolle had an MRI on Wednesday, which revealed nothing more than just a bruise. Rolle has not missed a game in his three seasons with the Giants. However that could come to an end as his status for Sunday’s game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles is now in serious question.

Rolle was asked by reporters today if he feels like he can play on Sunday. Rolle replied by telling them “Right now, I can’t say it’s a for-sure thing,” Rolle said. “In my mind, am I gonna play on Sunday? Yeah. God willing, everything goes as planned and my knee feels good enough to go out there.” Rolle told the media today that  he was awake until two in the morning on Thursday, doing leg extensions and squats and icing his knee. “I’m just trying to make sure I’m able,” he said. “If I can be at 90 percent, 85 percent on Sunday, I think that’ll be good enough for me.”

After the Giants held their Thursday practice, head coach Tom Coughlin was asked if he feels that Rolle would miss the game. “I would hope not,” coach Tom Coughlin said “But any time you keep ‘em inside, there’s a bit of a question.” Giants’ Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell sounded more confident than either Coughlin or Rolle did about him playing on Sunday. “I don’t think there’s any question about it,” Fewell said. “I think he’ll be ready to go.”

If Rolle is ruled out for Sunday’s game, then the likely replacement for rolle would be Stevie Brown. Brown is a three-year veteran that the Giants picked up this spring. Brown, a former seventh-round draft pick out of Michigan, has started just one NFL game in his career. However he did make up for lack of playing time by having an interception against the Panthers last week, playing in place of Rolle.

The injury bug seems to not be going away for this giants team as they have been dealing with a ton of injuries from the first week of the preseason up until this point. We will keep you updated on any changes on the status of Antrel Rolle as they come in.
