Four weeks may not seem like much, but for Tyler Sash, the month away from the Giants to serve a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs was an eternity.
He returned to practice Wednesday after splitting the previous four weeks between Miami and home in Iowa where he tried to stay in shape and stay connected with the sport anyway he could.
Sash's arrival came at just the right time for the Giants. With starting safety Kenny Phillips out due to a sprained MCL suffered in Sunday's loss to the Eagles and Antrel Rolle hampered with a knee injury, Sash may play a significant role against the Browns this week.
Sash mostly played special teams his rookie season, but filled in at safety when Deon Grant and Antrel Rolle needed breathers or were out with injuries.
