Tom Crabtree, a former tight end with the Packers, Chiefs and Buccaneers, will work out for the Giants next week, according to a person familiar with the situation.
The 28-year-old, who has been in the league since 2009, has 22 career receptions for 323 yards and five touchdowns. He won a Super Bowl in 2010 with the Packers.
Crabtree is familiar with Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, a former tight ends coach in Green Bay, and could be a valuable addition to an uncertain group of tight ends on the current roster. Adrien Robinson, the teams 2012 fourth-round pick, currently leads the depth chart following a strong spring session.
