Randall Cobb (Photo Credit: Jeffrey Phelps/AP) During the first preseason game, the Green Bay Packers first team offense played well, driving the ball down the field against the Arizona Cardinals.  Even though they drove right down the field, that productive series resulted in zero points, after James Starks was stuffed on a fourth and goal at the one yard line.  Once the first team went out, so did the Packers’ energy.  Backup quarterback Graham Harrell had a rough day at the office, throwing one interception, as well as getting himself sacked and fumbling the football.  The other quarterbacks on the roster, Vince Young and B.J. Coleman, also had a trying night, which helped contribute to the Packers being shut out 17-0. Next up for the Packers will be the St. Louis Rams.  Like last week, Rodgers is expected to play only one series.  The good news for Rodgers is that dynamic receiver Randall Cobb is going to play despite a biceps injury.  The Packers also hope for rookie left tackle David Bakhtiari to keep improving and showing why he is the favorite to replace the injured Bryan Bulaga.  Rookie Tyrone Walker also hopes to keep impressing the Packers offensive staff.  The undrafted receiver had a great debut, catching five passes for 41 yards.  With Cobb nursing his injury, Walker looks to get more reps and try to move himself up the depth chart. On the other side of the coin, the Packers need Harrell, Young, and Coleman to step up their play.  They need to assure the coaches that Aaron Rodgers will have a viable backup in case the unthinkable happens and Rodgers goes down.  Nobody ever wants to see that happen, but a good player needs to be ready and prepared, if and when called upon.  If those three can’t produce, they might be out of a job sooner rather than later. The Packers also hope for the secondary to improve from last week’s game.  Carson Palmer picked the secondary apart, and did it without starting cornerback Tramon Williams.  Considering how depleted the Packers defense has become with injuries over the past few seasons, even the backups need to show that they are noteworthy of earning some big game playing time.  Saturday night, the Packers will look to scrape off the rust and show that the first preseason game was only a fluke.
