Ha Ha Clinton-Dix The Green Bay Packers came into the NFL draft with one major need to fill.  All of last season, the Packers were the only team to not have an interception from their safeties.  There were many times last year when Morgan Burnett and M.D. Jennings were consistently out of position, giving up many big plays in the process.   With the 21st overall pick in the first round, the Packers selected safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix out of the University of Alabama. In the later rounds of the draft, the Packers did take some quality players, including wide receiver Davante Adams and linebacker Carl Bradford.  While Adams and Bradford were quality picks in the second and fifth rounds respectively, the need for a safety makes the selection of Clinton-Dix their best pick in the draft. Clinton-Dix played on an Alabama defense for the past few seasons that has generated many current NFL players.  As I have said before, Clinton-Dix has the tools to be a ball hawking safety.  In Alabama’s 2012 national championship season, he led the Crimson Tide defense with five interceptions.  Last year, his interception total was held to only two, partly because he was suspended for receiving improper benefits from an Alabama coach. What makes Clinton-Dix a wonderful pick for the Packers is that he played in a virtual pro defense under Nick Saban.  Aside from the defensive pro system, Clinton-Dix also played with many future pros on that Crimson Tide defense.  What also makes Clinton-Dix a great pick is his 32 and three-eighths inches wingspan.  That wingspan allows Ha Ha to knock down many passes and to securely wrap up players while tackling.  Along with his long wingspan, Clinton-Dix stands a six-foot-one, a height that will help him match up with the taller wide receivers in the NFL. The Packers badly needed to find a good safety in the draft, and I believe they found a quality gem in Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.  He played on a virtual pro defense at Alabama, and I think that will help him easily adapt to the NFL.
