When former safety LeRoy Butler invented The Lambeau Leap in 1993, it became a popular thing to do after reaching the endzone. Nowadays, it’s regarded as a verifiable tradition in Green Bay, as much a part of the city as its bone-chilling winters and world-renowned cheese. For the veteran players, it’s a requirement. For the rookies and younger players, it’s a rite of passage.

Like most good things, however, it’s not without fault. What can go wrong when jumping into the waiting arms of your adoring audience, you ask? Those who are unnecessarily touchy-freely (and in clear violation of the bro code).

Let’s get a first-hand account from receiver Greg Jennings, whose leaped quite a few times in his seven-year career.

“I try to go away from the men because the men get a little grabby,” Jennings said, via ProFootballTalk.com. “The women get grabby too but them men it’s like come on, really, seriously? I’m another guy.”

Understandable. No one wants an unwanted advance during a celebratory exercise, especially by way of a frenzied cheese head.

Though I imagine this was a tongue-in-cheek sentiment (figuratively, Greg, don’t worry), it’s still an odd thing to say about arguably the league’s best fans. However, this is not an unusual occurrence for Jennings as of late. The normally-reserved 28-year-old made headlines on Tuesday, when he hinted that 2012 will be his last year with the team.

Perhaps realizing he’s on borrowed time with the Pack, Jennings is beginning to open up about issues he otherwise would’ve kept to himself.

One thing to take out of this? Maybe Randy Moss wasn’t so crazy after all.
