After he was handed an indefinite suspension for his role in the Saints bounty program by commissioner Roger Goodell in the off-season, Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was banned from team facilities and could not watch games at the stadium on Sundays.

The latter of those two restrictions has been lifted for the time being, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Williams has been given the okay to take part in NFL games once more, albeit as a spectator from the seats and not as a coach on the sideline.

Williams is expected to attend today’s game between the Rams and the visiting Seahawks, most likely from a suite to avoid having to interact too much with other fans.

While it’s doubtful that he’ll be able to resume his coaching duties anytime soon, the relaxation of the suspension in this way could be indicative of a move by the commissioner in the off-season to either reinstate Williams entirely or at the very least, define the remaining length of his suspension.

Williams has coached the Titans, Bills, Redskins, Jaguars, and Saints through 15 seasons in the league, as both an assistant and as a head coach.
