Former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams began testifying in person in the Saints bounty hearings early Friday morning with Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma and defensive end Will Smith in the room as well, a source said.
It's the exact scenario Vilma and Smith have been hoping for since the dates for the bounty hearings were set as the two players preached how they wanted to face their accusers. The two players were not present when former Saints defensive aide Mike Cerullo, a key whistleblower for the NFL's investigation, testified Thursday.
Vilma and Smith arrived to the D.C. office building around 6:30 a.m. central just hours after the two Saints defenders played against the Falcons in Atlanta on Thursday night.
"We all know why we're here," Vilma said as he walked into the building. Smith didn't say anything as he walked in with Vilma.
There's no clear timetable for how long Williams will testify and face cross examination in Friday's hearings. Source: The Times Picayune Attached Thumbnails

Saints-Falcons Live Blog, Second Half
