According to multiple reports, Rob Gronkowski's fourth surgery on his arm was a success and he could be ready for training camp. Gronkowski had surgery today at Mass General to install a new plate in his arm and to make sure there is no infection present. The tests revealed that Gronkowski is now free of the infection and can now start rehabbing his arm. If an infection was present in Gronkowski's arm, a fifth surgery was a definite possibility and that would have left Gronkowski as doubtful to start the regular season. While Gronkowski's arm may be on the mend, his back is a whole other issue. He has been dealing with "chronic" back pain for some time and he may require surgery on his back. The Patriots are hopeful that the star tight end will not need to have a surgery on his back. The team hopes that whatever is wrong with his back, he can rehab at the same time he is rehabbing his arm.
