Hey, our old soul brother Gus Frerotte is the new head coach of a high school football team in St. Louis (via D.C. Sports Bog and The Big Lead), which is our excuse to remind you that Frerotte Is Fr’Real.
It also got me thinking again about how Frerotte has somehow played as many games for the Redskins as any other quarterback since Mark Rypien. For real. Related: It’s been a long 17 years.
Frerotte played in 52 games for the Skins, as did Jason Campbell. Mark Brunell played in 35, and Brad Johnson 28. After that is, oh I don’t know, 15 other guys, many of who you can gasp at in this handy WaPo gallery.
Careful, though, that thing will take you back (John Friesz! Tony Banks! Jeff Hostetler!) and remind you that both Rich Gannon and Trent Green only managed to get a cup of coffee in Washington before starring elsewhere. Plus, you’ll be exposed to small doses of Heath Shuler and Jeff George.
Best of luck to Gus, though, and to kid who cracks a headbutt joke.
