The New York Giants announced on Monday that wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has passed his physical and subsequently been removed from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Per new CBA rules, Nicks will be limited and unable to practice in full pads for the next three days, then free to practice without limitations after that.

Prior to taking his physical, Nicks had been on the sidelines during practice running routes for the second time in less than a week. He appeared quick, fluid and as close to 100% as anyone in the NFL is going to get.

Nicks originally fractured the 5th metatarsal of his right foot on May 24th during mini-camp, and the team gave a 12 week timetable for his return. Today is exactly 11 weeks and four days post-injury, so the initial timeline given by team doctors was spot on. However, despite being able to practice this week, it is unlikely Nicks will play this Saturday when Big Blue takes on the New York Jets in their second preseason game of the year.

The Giants' roster currently sits at 89 players due to the spot vacated by safety/cornerback Janzen Jackson, who was officially released today.
