NEW ORLEANS Shaking off an earlier interception, Drew Brees hit Marques Colston on a 42-yard touchdown pass with seven seconds left in the first half to give the Saints a 24-17 halftime lead Sunday at the Superdome. Jonathan Stewart's 29-yard touchdown run had pulled the Panthers even at 17 with 1:18 remaining in the half. That was too much time for Brees, who completed all five of his passes on the 81-yard, go-ahead drive. The Panthers and Saints traded field goals earlier in the second quarter as the Saints took a 17-10 lead. Brees and Cam Newton both threw red-zone interceptions. Patrick Robinson picked off Newton in the back of the end zone when Newton faked a run and then lobbed a jump pass for Steve Smith. R.J. Stanford stepped in front of Darren Sproles to pick off Brees after the Saints had driven to the 20. Stanford's 56-yard return helped set up Olindo Mare's 41-yard field goal.
