Jason Whitney Steve Young says Joe Flacco deserves his contract that is the richest in the history of the NFL Add Hall of Fame quarterback, Steve Young to the relatively small list of supporters that back Joe Flacco’s rich new deal. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback knows what the pressure of winning the big one is all about. Young won three rings, but only once did he win the Super Bowl as the starting quarterback which came in Super Bowl XXIX against the San Diego Chargers. Thus Steve Young believes that Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco is deserving of being rewarded with the most lucrative contract in league history. According to the USA Today, Joe Flacco’s deal is a six-year contract worth$120.6 million. Via USA Today: “Joe is worth this deal because he did it when it mattered,” Young, an ESPN analyst, told USA TODAY Sports just minutes after the agreement was announced by the Ravens. “So did Eli Manning do it when it mattered — and all the great ones do it when it matters. To play perfect football in January and February is the Holy Grail for a quarterback, right? That’s the place. “When Joe Flacco threw 11 touchdowns with no interceptions in January and February and won the Super Bowl, that’s why the Ravens had no choice but to pay him what they did.” Joe Flacco not only thrived during the NFL postseason, he also made some bold proclamations before the season began of being the NFL’s best quarterback which drew a lot of criticism. Flacco wasn’t done there either as  he advised agent Joe Linta to table an offer in the $16-million-per-year range. Many experts and the social media world laughed at Flacco for making what they all believed as pretentious statements. Young also spoke on this. “It looked like it was a bad bet there on himself back in October,” Young said. “But then Joe did exactly what he needed to do. He was the Super Bowl MVP, won the whole thing. That’s how you earn that kind of contract. “All the credit goes to Joe for pulling it off right when he needed to do it. It’s not like he was lucky. There’s some timing to it.” “I’m glad they got it done,” Young said. Sports-Kings - The Kings of Sports Lists
