With Ben Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwich sidelined, Charlie Batch is the only QB standing, and that just isn't going to cut it for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They need depth, and they need it quick. The team is actively in the hunt for another QB to join the roster. Might be a good idea to sign two; you never know. CBSSports.com is reporting that the Steelers are bringing in free agent QBs Brian Hoyer and Mike Kafka for workouts today. Hoyer was Tom Brady's backup for three years, but the Pats felt Ryan Mallett had progressed to the point where Hoyer was expendable. They released him just before the start of the season. Hoyer has benefited from the Patriots system and could provide a viable solution for the short term. The former Eagle Kafka is another option; servicable, but not on the same level as Hoyer. Bone of Contention Roethlisberger's shoulder and rib injuries have him sidelined for the foreseeable future, and Leftwich, not to be outdone, suffered his own rib injury in the first quarter Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens. var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
