Houston has a great reason to be excited for the coming season. The team will be welcoming back rookie sensation Deshaun Watson. The pressure on the first franchise level quarterback in Houston will surely be tremendous.

Lucky for him, teammate DeAndre Hopkins is actively trying to recruit stars to take the load off the young quarterback.

Having too much pressure on a talented but young player is a mistake the Houston Texans do not want to make. With the ability to run and throw, Watson is on track to become a star in this league. But he will need help.

Hopkins’ recruiting efforts show that the pro-bowl receiver understands this perfectly. With the potential of making a deep run in next season’s playoffs, the team will need to be complete as possible. That includes the secondary, where Hopkins has been quick to target Malcolm Butler as a potential pick up after the corner was left out completely of the Super Bowl.

Butler would be a great addition to the weakest aspect of the Texans. The secondary has been below par for far too long and something needs to happen from the front office to ensure this season won’t be more of the same.

Another area where help could be useful is the receiving core. Adding a secondary option to complement Hopkins would be great for the second year Watson as it would open up different looks on offense and relieve some of the pressure on both Watson and Hopkins.

The mention of Jimmy Graham on social media by Hopkins is a clear indicator of how the receiver understands that the team still needs to add pieces if it is to make some noise this year.
