The New York Giants are adding wide receiver depth to their training camp roster and have signed eight year veteran Michael Clayton to a deal this morning.
Clayton has all the talent in the world but never quite puts it together. He’s a former first round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but in 2010 he only caught two passes for 19 yards in six games for the Giants.
I assumed he would not be returning as his signing last year was only due to the ridiculous amount of injuries the Giants suffered at the position. Obviously I was wrong.
He could still be cut by the end of camp, but with Steve Smith still not signing the contract he evidently received last Friday, the Giants have to have a backup plan.
