I expect a quiet and touching moment of tribute to the late Jim Johnson (former defensive coordinator of the Eagles and assistant coach for several other NFL teams in his career) at some point in the pregame ceremonies at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday afternoon.
After that, all hell's busting loose at the Linc in the combined furies of raving fans, jangling nerves, players' adrenalin, media mania and opening-day jitters, 'cause the New Orleans Saints are ready to skewer the wounded Eagle on their fleur de lis and roast the Bird over a golden fire lit by QB Drew Brees and new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.
"Our time is now with Brees," Saints coach Sean Payton said. And the Saints have made no attempt to hide their defensive agenda, either: they are game-planned to swarm all over the Eagles backfield in search of whichever rent-a-quarterback is there at the time.
