After seeing the Bucs lose 48-3 on Sunday, Roger Goodell saw fit to throw them a bone and reinstated Tanard Jackson. “We can’t have them getting slaughtered like that. People might stop going to games in Tampa,” the commissioner probably said. Teammates have said Jackson has been maintaining his conditioning and preparing to play as soon as his ban was lifted. Jackson participated in workouts with teammates in player-organized workouts during the NFL lockout in June. He appeared to be in good shape and presumably hadn’t lost the instincts that made him an instant starter as a rookie, in 2007. It’s harder to see if those smaller guys are in bad shape when they get back from an extended absence. Linemen are easy. They either turn into fat sacks of crap or they don’t and it’s instantly evident. So we’ll have to wait and see on the field if he’s really in shape.
