- The usual suspects were out of the scrimmage today. Maurice Jones-Drew and Justin Blackmon were both out due to contract issues. CB Aaron Ross was out because he is watching his wife, Sanya Richards-Ross, compete in the Olympics. LT Eugene Monroe is out with an injured knee, OG Will Rackley has an injured ankle, DE Austen Lane is out with a foot injury, OLB Daryl Smith (groin injury) and OLB Clint Session is still out with concussion-like symptoms  We also didn't see Tyson Alualu, Paul Posluszny (Then again, I wasn't really looking), or Jeremy Mincey.

- Jason Spitz was limping around during the second half. Hopefully it isn't anything too serious, because that position is becoming dangerously slim.

- Blaine Gabbert and the firs team still has some kinks to work out, but it managed to methodically get the ball down the field. Gabbert often had to check down to Rashad Jennings, who became the star of the scrimmage by accounting for most of the first team's offense. Still, Gabbert looked a lot more accurate and comfortable than he did last year. He went through his reads, shifted around the pocket to avoid rushers (namely, Andre Branch, who was eating Guy Whimper's lunch), and got the ball out of his hands quickly. All of these were good signs, but the first true test will be next Friday, when the New York Giants roll into town.
