Other than the heat and the fact the Jacksonville Jaguars picked the hottest day of the year to begin training camp, things were pretty good this morning. With 90 players out on the practice field and fans in the stands wanting to get their first look at the true makeup of this team, we can all now saw the NFL season is in full swing. At times, it is difficult for me to draw a line in the sand and declare myself either a reporter or a fan. Today, I was a little of both. And to be honest, it was pretty exciting. Here are some things I observed in the three hours the Jaguars were at practice.*No separation at quarterback. We did not expect anything different. Both Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert looked even in their throws. I will say that the throwing motion of Gabbert seemed to be more steady than last season.*MJD is ready to run. He looked comfortable out there on the grass. He caught some passes and ran some plays to the outside. I think he will be very comfortable with his running and the new offense by next week.*Tobias Palmer looked good. The rookie free agent receiver is one of my dark horses to make this team. A player with 4.3 speed should not be overlooked.*Jason Babin returned. After having groin surgery, Babin returned to practice and was working with the first unit and the defensive linemen. A healthy Babin is a good thing for this franchise.*Great turnout from the fans. The fans have been waiting all offseason. The stands were full and loud or the entire practice all morning. That is a good thing considering the franchise is working on a ticket drive and trying to fill the stadium for all eight home games.*Bradley pleased with practice. Saying this was where he thought this team was, head coach Gus Bradley said the first day of practice went well.
