It's a long shot, but Percy Harvin in teal would look pretty nice, wouldn't it? The former Florida Gator said recently he wants to be traded from the Minnesota Vikings because of being unhappy by a number of factors. Currently, the Jaguars top three wide receivers are Justin Blackmon, Laurent Robinson, and Mike Thomas/Cecil Shorts/Lee Evans. With the Jaguars running more three and four wide receiver sets this year, Harvin would fit in nicely in the slot, although he can play outside too. Harvin is only 24 years old, and had his best year in 2011 as a pro. He totaled 87 receptions, 967 receiving yards, and 7 total touchdowns.

It will be unlikely the Vikings want to trade such a weapon like Harvin due to his immense versatility and skill as a football player. He can return punts and kickoffs, a position which would surely benefit the Jaguars on special teams. Mike Mularkey and Bob Bratkowski could get creative on offense with a guy like Harvin by running reverses and other trickery plays in which Harvin can excel. The Jaguars are reportedly interested in making their offense more complex, so Harvin would help in that aspect. (Continue reading this post…)

General manager Gene Smith is constantly looking to add talent, especially in order to help quarterback Blaine Gabbert on offense. Adding Percy Harvin to that mix would further solidify the reconstruction of a dismal 2011 Jaguar offensive performance. For a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars, who had arguably the worst WR group in 2011, adding a play maker like Percy Harvin surely cannot hurt the team… can it?
