Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis temporarily held out of training camp last offseason in search of a contract extension, but eventually joined the team without receiving a new deal. Mathis' contract is set to expire after the 2011 season, and this time, Mathis has tried a different approach: letting his performance on the field do the talking. Mathis, 31, a ninth-year veteran who has spent his entire career in Jacksonville, is putting together a terrific season. His only poor performance came in Week Six against the Steelers, but he rebounded in Week Seven against the Ravens with perhaps his most aggressive performance of the season. The way Pro Football Weekly hears it, the Jaguars are thrilled with Mathis' approach on and off the field, but they want to wait and see if he can sustain his high level of play.

Texans' Johnson won't return against Jaguars

HOUSTON (AP) -- Houston star receiver Andre Johnson will miss his fourth straight game Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a hamstring injury.

Del Rio and Kubiak Both On the Hot Seat

It's not set in stone, but most feel that both Gary Kubiak and Jack Del Rio have to reach the postseason to keep their jobs. It's more than likely that only one team will qualify, if any, so Sunday's game is extremely important.
