It wasnt a good day for ankle injuries for the Jaguars at their Wednesday practice as they began focusing on the season opener Sunday in Minnesota.
Guard Uche Nwaneri hasnt fully recovered from his ankle injury that he suffered last Thursday night against Atlanta and was limited in practice while wide receiver Justin Blackmon suffered an ankle injury in practice so he had to be listed as limited because he didnt take all the reps.
The Jaguars hope Blackmons injury isnt serious, but will have to wait to see if there is any swelling Thursday to determine if he can resume practicing. Blackmon suffered the injury after the 30-minute media viewing period ended.
When Nwaneri went out, Josh Beekman took his place at right guard during the media viewing time although coach Mike Mularkey said if he cant go, they could move tackle Cameron Bradfield from tackle to guard and play Guy Whimper at right tackle.

Top rookie wide receivers to watch in 2012
Wide receivers in the NFL have always been players that need at least three years before they break out, but because of the expansion of the passing game in college football has led to more wide receivers every year making an impact in their first year. In 2008, it was DeSean Jackson that sparked the Philadelphia Eagles offense to the NFC Championship game. In 2009, Mike Wallace...
Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew Needs To Earn His Starting Job Again?
Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew will have to work to earn his job back from RB Rashad Jennings, who has been named the starter for week one.
I have to work to get my job back, said Jones-Drew, per Ryan OHalloran of the Florida Times-Union. Thats all it is. Nobody has ever given me anything so Im used to it. I like it because the competition is going to be great....
Jaguars Wants TE Marcedes Lewis To Be A Red Zone Threat
If Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis scores a touchdown Week 1 against the Vikings, then he would have scored more times in 2012 already than he did in 15 games last season.
Lewis failed to score a touchdown last season for the first time in his six-year career. It came after Lewis had a career-high 10 touchdowns in 2010.
The Jaguars expect Lewis to be a bigger contributor in...
Jaguars sign Cloherty, place Brackett on IR
Tight end Colin Cloherty was signed by the Jaguars, who placed Brett Brackett on injured reserve. Brackett, who finished last season on Philadelphia's practice squad, suffered a knee injury a half hour into his first practice with the Jaguars on Monday, two days after being claimed off waivers. Cloherty played in four games for Jacksonville last season, and spent time on...
Will the Jacksonville Jaguars have any Bite in 2012?
2011’s 1st round draft pick stepped into the Jags line up as the starting QB, supplanting both Jacksonville fan favorite David Garrard and journeyman Luke McCown by Week 3. On paper that may sound impressive, but considering that the “Teal Cats” finished 5-11, it could be (and has been) argued by many NFL experts that Blain Gabbart was not the best option as Jacksonville’s...
Jones-Drew to begin season as third-down back
Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey said running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who practiced for the first time Monday since ending his 38-day holdout Sunday without getting a new contract, will play in the season opener in Minnesota. Jones-Drew contributed almost 48 percent of the Jaguars' offense last season, the highest percentage by any player in the past 10 years according to Elias...
Does History Favor Jacksonville Against Minnesota?
The regular season kicks off on Sunday afternoon, as the Jacksonville Jaguars will head to Minnesota to play the Vikings. The Jaguars are much improved offensively from a year ago, and on paper, this is a game that the Jaguars should win. Personally, I’m not really a believer that the past plays a part in the present with sports. Yet, it’s still worth a look. With that said...
Adrian Peterson: The Jaguars would be terrible without Maurice Jones-Drew
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson showed some support to his buddy Maurice Jones-Drew some by also knocking his team. He says the Jaguars would be terrible if they didn’t have MJD.
Peterson throws some support to his buddy MJD. “He’s their whole offense. Without him Jaguars would be terrible.”

Peterson, Jones-Drew likely to downshift early
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Adrian Peterson and Maurice Jones-Drew's common bonds as star running backs have allowed the two to develop a friendship over the years. The two were keeping a close eye on the other's situation this offseason as Peterson, the Minnesota Vikings' record-breaking back, was attempting a comeback from major knee surgery and Jones-Drew, the Jacksonville...

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0) at Minnesota Vikings (0-0)
I didn’t have the Vikings listed as one of my underrated teams in the league, but maybe I should have. They had incredibly bad luck during their 3-13 season last year, going 2-9 in games decided by a touchdown or less and had the point differential of a team that should have won 5 or 6 games. A full season of Christian Ponder...

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (31)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 32) - Showdowns with Colts won't be for division title.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 31) - At least Blaine Gabbert looks like he's making progress, Maurice Jones-Drew is back, and Justin Blackmon looks like real deal.
Cris Collinsworth...
Laurent Robinson’s Impact?
If you tuned into the Giants vs. Cowboys game casual viewers heard a lot from a relative unknown. Kevin Ogletree thrived in Laurent’s old role. Catching two touchdowns, and showing he can run some f**kin’ routes. Not a surprise as I predicted a big night from whomever was there. Unfortunately, it wasn’t Dwayne Harris. My apologies only human.
Robinson will have a difficult...
