Found December 13, 2011 on Titans Locker:
The Titans are playing the Indianapolis Colts on the road this weekend in a “must win” game.  Matt Hasselbeck injured his calf last weekend and rookie Jake Locker played most of the game.  This is a perfect spot to give Jake Locker his first NFL start, as long as Hasselbeck isn’t healthy enough to go.  Locker has played in 4 games for the Titans so far this year and he has completed 23 of 50 passes (46%) for 434 yards with 3 TD passes and 0 INTs (96.6 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 7 times for 47 yards (6.7 ypc) with 1 TD run so far this year.  Locker has a stronger arm and he’s a much better runner than Hasselbeck, but Hasselbeck still has the experience edge.  Hasselbeck has been solid this year.  The 36-year old QB has completed 246 of 403 passes (61%) for 2,701 yards with 15 TD passes and 10 INTs (82.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 13 times for 52 yards (4.0 ypc) so far this year.  No matter which QB lines up under center this weeke...

Jake Locker Could Make First NFL Start On Sunday

Jake Locker was once projected to get drafted ahead of Andrew Luck in preseason draft rankings after returning to Washington for his senior year.  Locker had a bit of a senior slump and slipped to eighth overall where the Tennessee Titans opted to select Locker. The Titans quarterback coach spoke with Locker extensively after Washington’s pro day.  At that moment I got a...

Munchak: Hasselbeck is QB if healthy

It has happened twice now. Matt Hasselbeck starts at quarterback for the Tennessee Titans against a superior opponent and struggles to move the ball. He gets hurt and rookie Jake Locker, the team's first-round pick in this year's draft, enters the game. Locker moves the ball, makes big plays, puts plenty of points on the board, pulling the Titans within a touchdown, but...

Rated Rookie: Who else is hoping they can start Jake Locker?

The situation is this: It's the semis in the Fantasy Pros Invitational. I'm facing Team Funston, perhaps the league's pluckiest squad, a team that strung together late-season wins in order to qualify for the playoffs. Brandon's roster is loaded with players who have excellent Week 15 match-ups (Eli, Foster & Tate, Greene). My roster, at this stage, is loaded with...

Noisemakers: Fantasy points aplenty in Tennessee’s Locker

After an explosive Week 14, here are three unheralded medal-earners (started in less than 20-percent of Y! leagues) projected to finish in fourth place who ended up setting the fantasy pace: Jake Locker, Ten, QB Y! Percent Started: 0-percent After Matt Hasselbeck exited stage left with calf injury in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to New Orleans, the rookie entered the game...

Saints' defense bends, rarely breaks when needed

When the Saints' defense needs to make a stop, it has - all season. The last five minutes of the New Orleans-Tennessee game Sunday were a microcosm of the season for the Saints' defense. Titans rookie quarterback Jake Locker shredded the NFL's 27th-ranked defense for 113 yards and two big plays, but no points. When they had to make a stop, the Saints did. Again. The...

Hasselbeck Practices, but Status Uncertain

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, but is uncertain if he will play on Sunday vs. Indianapolis, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. Fantasy Spin: The match-up is savory as the dizzy Colts have surrendered 23 touchdowns through the air, and if Hasselbeck cant go prized rookie Jake Locker would get the starting nod at quarterback...

QB Matt Hasselbeck Sits Out Titans Practice

Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck did not practice on Wednesday as the team began on-field preparations for Sunday's game against the Colts according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. Hasselbeck suffered a calf injury in the second quarter of last Sunday's loss to the Saints and played only one more snap. On Monday, Titans Coach Mike Munchak characterized the injury as a ...

Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck Day-To-Day With Calf Injury

If Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is healthy enough, he will start this Sunday’s game against the Colts, Coach Mike Munchak said on Monday. But that’s a big question mark as Hasselbeck deals with a calf injury he suffered in the 22-17 loss to the Saints this past Sunday. Hasselbeck remained sore on Monday but was walking around Baptist Sports Park “pretty good,” Munchak said...

Titans expect Matt Hasselbeck to start

Matt Hasselbeck returned to practice on Thursday from his calf injury, and coach Mike Munchak now expects Hasselbeck to start on Sunday against the Colts. Hasselbeck’s speedy return from a calf injury is a bit of a surprise. He was limited in practice and still isn’t certain to start, but the team now expects him…

NFL Power Rankings Week 15

1.  Green Bay Packers (13-0): The crushing win over the Raiders is overshadowed by Greg Jennings’ injury. The upside is he should be back in time for the playoffs. 2.  New Orleans Saints (10-3): Saints held off Jake Locker and the Titans to officially claim a playoff berth. If the 49ers lose to the Steelers on Monday Night Football and the Saints win out, guess who has a first...

Week 15 fantasy five pack

1. Jake Locker should pay off against the Colts If Matt Hasselbeck (calf) sits against the Colts this week, Jake Locker should be a top-12 fantasy start among quarterbacks. Indianapolis has allowed 23 touchdowns compared to six interceptions this year, allowing opponents to complete 71.9 percent of passes. For a rookie quarterback, it's difficult to imagine a friendlier environment...

Titans assuming Hasselbeck will start vs. Colts

Titans coach Mike Munchak says he is assuming Matt Hasselbeck is playing Sunday at Indianapolis until he sees otherwise. That's even though his veteran quarterback only watched practice Wednesday.
