PLAYERS: Jason Witten
TEAMS: Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he believes the Cowboys’ offensive problems from this past season stem from a lack of execution and not play calling. “I think more’s been made of that than probably needs to be as far as a player’s perspective just because it’s all about execution for us,” Witten said. “We’ve got to execute those plans better. We’ve got good plays, and we’ve got some good players, but we’ve got to do a good enough job of executing time and time again. That’s where I focus is on as players, I think, and that’s where it needs to be moving forward.” Witten says they need to put themselves in better positions. “We just need to do a better job of scoring and taking care of the ball collectively and not putting ourselves in those situations where we’re having to come from behind,” Witten said. I agree with Witten, but I also believe poor play calling can play a role. Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function()

  • Witten is right on the money...execution is very poor
  • If Dimwhitten could make plays on 3rd and 10...instead of going out for 5 yards on 3rd down...and failing to come up with a 1st down... he could talk about execution...
  • Seriously, you're going to execute that childish name calling and blast one of the great tight ends to ever play the game? By the time he retires, he will surpass Gonzales. Witten had 110 rec, 1039 yards, 9.4 ave per catch, 36 as his long, and 3 TD's. While that['s not a lot of TD's he put them in position for many more.

So sick of people who have to resort to impish name calling. Just make your ridiculous point without that, Not humorous, and frankly, nauseating.
  • Hey bmerbob, my money is on that bear3302 never put on pads and if he did his play time was almost nil.
  • Witten is partially right. The team lacks true leadership, there is not a clear leader on the team. Romo should take that role but watch the games, after they give up the ball he goes to his side of the bench, he is not talking up his linemen or recievers or running backs, he goes to one end of the bench. The head coach is all business and does not bother with the players during games. I played football for 14 years and you notice when there are leaders and the team plays together, AND Executes Better!
  • If thats the problem then fire the head coach and coordinator those are his jobs to see that the players are executing properly.Face it Garrett couldnt coach a pop warner team to success.
