The chances of Jason Witten playing in tonight’s season opener against the Giants are slim.
But that hasn’t stopped Witten from doing everything in his power to somehow get on the field.
Witten did not make the trip with the team to New York because he is recovering from an injured spleen. Witten is officially listed as a game-time decision, but he badly wants to be activated. So badly that he reportedly approached the Cowboys and offered to sign a waiver removing the organization from liability so he could play tonight.
The Cowboys reportedly will not accept a waiver in exchange for Witten playing, so all indications are that he will miss the opener.
