The Vikings cut former Pro Bowl receiver Javon Walker today, Walker confirmed to the Pioneer Press, and the move reportedly could be to make room for another former Pro Bowler -- T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who was released by Seattle.

Fox9Sports.com is reporting that Walker's reps believe he was cut to make room for Houshmandzadeh, who is due $7 million this year, though the Seahawks are likely responsible for most of it.

Walker has not responded to whether Houshmandzadeh was the reason for his cut.

Walker told the Press via text: "I'm just happy to show people I can play and for the Vikes giving me a chance."

The Vikings are close to the 53-man roster that needs to be shored up by 5 p.m. today. So far, prominent cuts include Walker, wide receiver Logan Payne and kicker Rhys Lloyd, according to various reports.
