Jeff Demps is keeping busy on the track for the rest of July and will likely get an invite to compete at the world championships in mid-August.
But when he's done, one of the world's fastest men plans to play for the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Demps will almost certainly compete at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow, but when the track event is over on Aug. 18 he will join the Bucs for the final few weeks of the preseason, the Tampa Tribune and Tampa Bay Times reported.
"Jeff believes in finishing what he starts," said Demps' agent, Daniel Rose, told the Tribune. "And so what he wants to do is finish out the track season and, once that's finished, then he'll report to the Bucs."
Demps won a silver medal as part of the the U.S. 4x100 relay team at the 2012 London Games. He also competed in both track and football at Florida. Demps was acquired by Tampa in a trade with New England this offseason.
