Rams coach Jeff Fisher says negotiations on a new contract for running back Steven Jackson are progressing well.
Jackson has one year left on his contract at $7 million but is expected to void the deal and become a free agent. The Rams want him back, but only with a restructured contract.
Jackson, who turns 30 in July, has talked about the possibility of retiring, but all signs point to him playing on.
Weve had discussions with Eugene Parker (Jacksons agent), and thus far things look good, Fisher said at the Scouting Combine, via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. I think its identifying what both sides want moving forward. Jack knows how I feel about him and that we want him back. But weve got time. Weve got a few more weeks and well see where it goes.
