As Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones expected, cornerback Mike Jenkins arrived at Valley Ranch Tuesday morning for the first day of the team's mandatory minicamp. However, Jenkins, who is in the final year of his contract, isn't expected to participate in the three-day camp because he is still recovering from off-season shoulder surgery. The Cowboys' official website posted a picture of the four-year veteran arriving at the team's practice facility Tuesday morning. The Cowboys' first-round pick in 2008, who reportedly asked for a trade earlier this month, did not attend the three weeks of organized team activities at Valley Ranch and Cowboys Stadium. The trade request likely stems from the Cowboys signing free agent cornerback Brandon Carr to a five-year, 50.1 million deal in March and drafting cornerback Morris Claiborne with the sixth overall pick last month. On May 30, Jones said the Cowboys would not be trading Jenkins and that although Jenkins was not at OTAs he expected the corner to attend the minicamp. "There's nobody that needs Jenkins more than the Cowboys," Jones said at the time. "There's no draft pick that I'm interested in in exchange for Jenkins," he added. Reportedly, the Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions have made offers for Jenkins in the last month. Media members are allowed to attend all three days of the event so there will likely be more information about Jenkins in the coming days.
