Mike McCarthy isn’t taking any chances with star wide out Greg Jennings. McCarthy stated that: “We’re not going to put him out there until we’re 100 percent that he’s clear.” McCarthy ruled Jennings out for Thursday’s preseason game according to the Associated Press via Profootballtalk.com. Jennings is the straw that stirs the drink in the Green Bay offense, and the Packers can not afford being callous handling Jennings. Jennings has missed two weeks with a concussion suffered during the team’s annual Family Night scrimmage.

Four Reasons The Green Bay Packers Won’t Keep Six Wide Receivers

The Green Bay Packers receivers may not have room for one more. Earlier in the offseason, I examined a couple ways the Green Bay Packers could shuffle around the 53-man roster to make room for six wide receivers. Both Diondre Borel and Tori Gurley are making a strong push to make the final cut, and the possibility is certainly there. Today, however, I’m going to play the Devil’s...

Green Bay Packers: Notes From Camp

There have been some happenings in Packers camp the past couple of days so I saw it as a chance to write up a summary of what is going on so people are aware. It seems the injury Desmond Bishop suffered during the Packers pre-season game against the Chargers was a bad one.  Bishop will be out for the season.  This is a big hit to the Packers defense that was already struggling...

Thompson pushing to get Packers over the top

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The first seven years of Ted Thompson's career as general manager of the Green Bay Packers were relatively predictable. After getting hired in 2005, Thompson consistently added as many draft picks as he could, selecting 34 players in his first three years. With the exception of signing cornerback Charles Woodson and defensive lineman Ryan Pickett, Thompson...

Give Them Time: Breaking Bad Habits in NFL Rookies

Packers rookie OT Andrew Datko has a lot to work on during training camp. My college professor once told me, “You can’t get rid of bad habits; you can only replace them with new ones.” I went to school for a B.S. degree in Music Education, with my major instrument being French horn. To make a long story short, though I had been learning the instrument since I was 10 years old...

Packers Defensive Line: A Healthy Ryan Pickett Commands Respect

Packers D-lineman Ryan Pickett Packers defensive lineman Ryan Pickett reminds me of two actors in two memorable movies: Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino and Paul Sorvino in Goodfellas. In Gran Turino, Eastwood plays a retired Detroit auto worker who is trying to cope with his neighborhood changing (i.e. getting younger and more diverse). He also yells at people to get off his lawn and...

No timetable on Greg Jennings’ return from Concussion

Greg Jennings has been sidelined since sustaining a concussion at a scrimmage on August 3, and the Packers will not provide a timetable on his return to action. As reported by Brad Biggs of the National Football Post, head coach Mike McCarthy isn’t sure when the former Western Michigan star will return to the field. “Well, it’s a long time,” said McCarthy regarding Jenning’s...

Packers CB Sam Shields Hoping To Be Back Next Week

After injuring his elbow at practice on Aug. 6, Packers cornerback Sam Shields believes he’s about another week away from returning to the field. The third-year cornerback has missed four practices and last Thursday’s preseason game with the elbow, but said he’s been going through treatment and has seen increased movement in it. Shields had a slow start to camp before the injury...

Lang’s Future Could Be At Center

T.J. Lang (70) was considered as a possible replacement for Scott Wells at center Mike McCarthy’s press conferences are usually about as exciting as watching paint dry, but the coach did say something interesting yesterday. When asked about the extension signed by T.J. Lang, he lauded the offensive lineman’s versatility and then mentioned that he was a candidate to replace Scott...

Packers face Browns, new wind patterns at Lambeau

Mike McCarthy and his assistants have plenty of young players to watch in the Green Bay Packers' preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday. They'll also be monitoring another relative unknown: The changing wind patterns at Lambeau Field. In the middle of a major expansion project, Lambeau has sprouted a massive superstructure with a giant video board in the...

Next Up For The Green Bay Packers & Aaron Rodgers Are The Cleveland Browns

The Green Bay Packers will be taking on the Cleveland Browns in preseason game number 2 tomorrow night. Rodgers will be looking to improve the performance he had in his first appearance of the 2012 season. The Packers will be facing a relatively you Browns defense that is full of injuries. One key to the Packers coming out of this game much improved will be the Packers ability to...

Mike McCarthy, Packers Learn New Rule The Hard Way Vs Browns

Packers coach Mike McCarthy incurred a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for delay of game after challenging receiver Randall Cobb's first quarter fumble. The problem: All turnovers are now automatically reviewed, so no red hanky was necessary. This rule is essentially the same as a problem that tripped up a few coaches last season. San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh...

Random Athlete Of The Day- Antonio Freeman

Antonio Freeman was one of Brett Favre’s greatest weapons. Sure, throughout his Green Bay career there was Donald Driver, Bill Schroeder, Corey Bradford, Bubba Franks, Javon Walker, and Robert Ferguson. But it’s Freeman who is the most underrated out of all of them. Freeman played football at Virginia Tech, he caught 93 balls for 1,534 yards and 16 touchdowns through his junior...
