A Jets fan’s request to fly in JetBlue’s New York Jets airplane was fulfilled when the airline responded to a customer’s tweet.

David Baghdassarian is a huge Jets fan who has a Jets license plate for his car and green and white tailgating grill, according to ESPN. He even dressed up as coach Rex Ryan on the holidays.

A week before Baghdassarian was scheduled to fly from Florida to New York to visit family, he sent a prayer of a tweet to the airline requesting the Jets airplane for his flight:

@martysg @davidjbarger @jetbluecoo Visiting family in NY #272 on 8/30 return #377 on 9/3. Any chance I can get the @nyjets plane? Thanks!

— David Bags (@bags) August 23, 2012

Baghdassarian boldly directed his tweet to JetBlue’s CEO, COO, and marketing man. Ask and ye shall receive; a day later the airline’s official Twitter account wrote him back to let him know his request had been granted.

@bags (@martysg @davidjbarger @jetbluecoo @nyjets) Done! – Enjoy your flight on JetGreen!

The plane has been wrapped with the Jets logo since October 2010 thanks to a partnership between the two. It usually makes random flights, but this time it showed up at the fan’s request.

The company has granted fan requests with their Red Sox and Real Salt Lake planes, but this was the first request for the Jets plane. It’s something company spokesperson Morgan Johnston says they try to do.

“We saw his tweet and it wasn’t hard to schedule the plane to fly him home,” Johnston told ESPN’s Darren Rovell. “Now we obviously can’t have our customers dictating their routes all the time, but when we can listen to our customers, react quickly and do something cool, we obviously make the effort to do so.”

It’s a great gesture by JetBlue, and it’s a nice way to make up with Jets fans after the last incident involving the Jets plane. Hopefully this will start a trend with airlines granting fan requests. And yes, I’m looking at you, Virgin America. I have a lot of friends who are San Francisco Giants fans, and I know they’d die to fly in your Brian Wilson-themed plane. Move’s on you.
