Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reports Rex Ryan designated Santonio Holmes and Brandon Moore as game captains Monday night and sent them out to midfield for the coin toss. The Holmes-Moore feud, the headline event in three weeks of turmoil that has threatened to rip apart the Jets locker room and their season, forced Ryan to meet with the players together last week. Then, in a transparent attempt to foster unity, he had them walk out together before the 24-6 victory over the Dolphins that ended the Jets' three-game losing streak. Ryan insists the problem was over. "It's unfortunate that it happened, that's the way it goes," he said. "We're chasing a much bigger thing than that. "The thing about our team and our franchise, we're not always lined up, but we're chasing the same thing. Sometimes, like in any family, you have disagreements. We just resolve things and move forward."

Rex Displeased With Home Dog Status

Yesterday during his conference call, Rex Ryan voiced some displeasure in how the bookies were looking at this Sunday’s game.  As of yesterday, the Jets were two point dogs to the Chargers, and Rex made it clear that he didn’t agree with that logic.  We have to win this one against an excellent football team … In fact, I think we’re (two-point) underdogs at our home stadium...

Jets mired in mediocrity

Mangold, Cromartie Sit Out Practice

There were some injury updates today as the team resumed practicing after the Jets win over the Dolphins on Monday night.  While some players are coming back to the field, it looks as if Rex Ryan is keeping some of his injured players off the field to rest them for Sunday’s game according to Jenny Vrentas of the Star-Ledger. Mangold was not out on the practice field during the...

Transcripts: Holmes, Revis, Sanchez 10/17

New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes, 10.17 On his touchdown catch… (It) was a good job by Mark (Sanchez) of first, stepping up in the pocket and eluding the tackler.  He got the ball to me quick and I didn’t know where the defender was from that point on.  The rest that happened was the blocking downfield with Plax (Plaxico Burress) and (Jeremy) Kerley, and the rest was history...
