The New York Jets want to give us all another present just like they did in 2010: they’re willing to let HBO film them for Hard Knocks again. I’m usually not one for squealing, but SQUEAL!

Last time, we got the beauty of Antonio Cromartie and his kids and the gift to coaches everywhere: “Let’s go eat a goddamn snack.” Plus an introduction to special teams coach Mike Westhoff, who could probably carry a show by himself.

I have no idea if the team could beat the sheer entertainment value of 2010, but holy God do I want to see them try.

Between the chemistry issues with Santonio Holmes, wondering if Rex Ryan has lost control of the locker room, seeing if Mark Sanchez will ever figure it out, and the presence of Jesus H. Tebow and a possibly incompetent front office trying desperately to prove they’re not insane…what was I talking about again? Oh yeah. This is gonna be awesome.

Unlike last time, there are actual news stories everyone wants to see play out in weekly installments. Everyone who cares about the football soap opera in New York would watch and discuss religiously. HBO would be nuts to pass this up. They may have even been considering asking the Jets before the team ended up in the press preemptively saying yes anyway.

And the foot jokes. Oh god, the foot jokes. Can people die from exposure to too many puns? Because I think the editors of the New York Daily News might want to be careful for the next few months.

Anyway, let’s all put our collective efforts into making this happen because what’s the alternative? Like the Ravens or something? Who cares? Jets in 2012!
